San Marco Venice, Italy We tourists often forget that Venice, especially San Marco is a place where people live and not just a place for tourist, and lavish entertainment. It is the case though that they are outnumbered, especially during the summer months and the "Mask Festival" "San Marco is one of the six sestieri of Venice, lying in the heart of the city. San Marco also includes the island of San Giorgio Maggiore. Although the district includes Saint Mark's Square, that was never administered as part of the sestiere. The small district includes many of Venice's most famous sights, including Saint Mark's Square, Saint Mark's Basilica, the Doge's Palace, Harry's Bar, the Palazzo Dandolo, San Moisè, the La Fenice theatre, the Palazzo Grassi and the churches of San Beneto, San Fantin, Santa Maria del Giglio, San Maurizio, San Moisè, Santo Stefano, San Salvador, San Zulian and San Samuele. The area is densely built and was the location of Venice's government. It is now heavily touristed and is home to many hotels, banks and expensive shops." -- Wikipedia
Comments | A lovely vignette of an everyday chore! Thank you for sharing photos of Venice from "off the tourist track!" Posted 12 months ago. ( permalink | delete ) | | Thanks Bisse, I have quite a few of them, but I already reached my limit, as non-pro. *smiles* I am developing a personal site though that will have most of my photos. Your Rockport photos are quite great too. I just browsed them but did not have chance to comment, as I have been very busy developing some projects. We should collaborate to help create a good site dealing with Massachusetts. More including stuff that you and I are interested with. Like, the not-so touristy sites. Cornelio Posted 12 months ago. ( permalink | delete | edit ) | | So glad you like the Rockport stuff! More coming, including one of Motif #1 - gotta do that one, too. You know. It would be fun to do something about Massachusetts....said one very busy person to another... Posted 12 months ago. ( permalink | delete ) | | We should still do it. I think it would be good to create a Massachusetts site. Initially, I was thinking mainly of a Boston site, but you have so many good photos from other places already. And, your Boston photos, especially the North End are quite good. Plus all the art photos that you have. Now, I need to generate more photos since someone unexpectedly gave me an early Christmas gift of a Pro account. Actually, I was not planning on having any ProAccount at all since it is mostly because I have no time even to upload old photos and I do not have a new camera to take more photos. I have a film camera but I do not want to use that at the moment I already have several non-commercial websites that contain personal pages, that I have not yet finished because of too many other more pressing projects. Have you seen the Filipino collaborative website? Likas-Pilippines Galleries It is a collaborative project of Filipinos. The images are not labelled yet because I am focusing on placing the photos, for now. Cornelio Posted 12 months ago. ( permalink | delete | edit ) | | Some WONDERFUL photos at that site! Thanks! :-) Posted 12 months ago. ( permalink | delete ) | | It should even get better as more Filipinos share their photos, Bisse. Please do come and visit from time to time, if you wish to know more about our country and our people. Cornelio Posted 12 months ago. ( permalink | delete | edit ) | | Oh, I will, I will. :-) Posted 12 months ago. ( permalink | delete ) |
