San Marco Venice, Italy
A testament to its ancient history as a human habitat, many of "the streets" of San Marco are narrow alleys.
If you do not have love for history and romance in your heart, seeing this, you will wonder why Venice (more specifically San Marco) has become among the most popular destinations in the world.
In fact, that was what I have just witnessed while roaming Venice early in the morning.
On my way to the "Bridge of Sighs", I was witnessed to a girl (in her 20's) berating her guy in full volume; gesticulating to emphasize her point:
"I don't know why you brought me here. I hate this place. It 's hot, it's dirty and too many people ... <b>I hate this place!</b>"
[Her accent suggests an American, although I will not bet my house on this hunch.]
The young guy was taking the scolding like a whipped boy, with his tail tucked in and a bowed head; glancing sideways once in awhile, afraid they were being overheard.
Were it not for the shame in his face, he was a handsome young guy. And, if Venice were true to her reputation, this was their honeymoon -- suggesting romance in the heart of the young guy but foreign to his lover.
And, if indeed it was their honeymoon -- either he did not perform his duties well the night before *smiles*, or it was just her character.
With a scene like that, I have a hard time picturing them sharing their golden years.
