Happy New Year from Boston - from Boy PDF Print E-mail
Written by Boy
Tuesday, 01 January 2008

I wish you all the best for this coming year.  And, I hope that we will have a chance to see each other eventually.  It has been a long time.

I share with you below, a typical Winter night scene in Boston, where I am right now.

The image was taken from the Cambridge site very near Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).  Cambridge is where  Harvard  University is located, but at least two subway stop from this location.  If you wish to see more of where I am right now, please visit

Conversations with Josie

Josie and I talked on Christmas Day (note 1).  She has been the one who had been updating me about what has transpired among the Caday Clan, since we last had our conversation.  I trust that she has been extending my greetings and well wishes to all members of the Clan.  I wish to thank Josie also for having taken the lead and responsibility to help some of the members of the family, a role that was once done by the elder members of our family -- Manang Ching, Mang Ter and to a certain extent Manang Priming.

Considering how poor we were when we were young, many members of our family would not be where they are now  in life, without the generosities extended by our Brother and Sisters.  I am an example of one of  those in the family who benefited tremendously from this generosity (note 2).  Josie is another and has returned the generosity bestowed by our Brother and Sisters, by helping others among her Brothers and Sisters, as well as some of her nephews and nieces, who at some point needed her help.

My fondest hope and wish is that some of the next generation of Cadays, especially those who have enough to share, to extend their generosity -- as some of the first generation of the  Primo and Caday Clan had done -- to their own cousins and perhaps the next generations of the Caday Clan.

Sosie's Birthday Reunion

I was not only able to greet the birthday celebrant, Sosie, but also had a chance to talk briefly to Jude Figarola and his eldest Son, Lor Figarola, Manang Naty, Flor and Jun Jaramilo, May Saquing but it was so noisy and then the line was cutoff. I could not call back again (busy signal). I am  sorry I missed Mang Tony Figarola, again.  I was able to chat briefly with Jojo Figarola during the last year's celebration, but I missed them this year. I missed Manang Nil also, and it has been awhile since I  got a chance to talk to Mary Anne, and  Jon and Fritzie Malinis Family.

As usual, the Franco-Caday members of our clan are not represented in the gathering. Part of it is distance.

For those I missed, you are always in my heart and mind.  I encourage you to get in touch with me, at least via email and preferrably through this Pamana: Primo and Lucia Caday Clan webpage.  This way, not only will you be in touch with me, you will be able to get in touch also with your other Cousins, Parents, Aunts and Uncles, and Grandparents, for the next generations.

New Year Communication

Today, 1 January 2008, I got a chance to talk to Manang Priming, May and Jun Saquing as well as Mang Ter. Cindy and PJ were not in the Caday-Saquing's home in Ilagan. Ariel and family were in Pasay and JayJay was not there either.  Manang Evie was already asleep. I tried to get in touch with Manang Naty and the Bulan family in their residence, but their phone was not online.  I was hoping I would have been able to get in touch with Manang Nil also,  because I did not have a chance to talk to her since she was not present on Sosie's birthday,  26 December 2007, when I called Sosie and Josie's home.
